Kano man sentenced to death by hanging

A Kano State High Court on Thursday condemned a 29-year-elderly person, Sagiru Abdullahi, to death by hanging for stabbing his 55-year-old stepmother, Zainab Dan’Azumi, to death.

The court indicted Abdullahi on one count of culpable homicide.

Justice Aisha Mahmoud held that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and condemned the convict to death.

The prosecuting counsel, Mr Tijjani Ibrahim, had prior let the court know that Abdullahi committed the offense in June 2014 at Kurmawa Quarters, Kano.

He said the convict gave few blade cuts on the victims head, prompting her death “The victim was rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, where she was confirmed dead by a doctor,” he said..
